| 16 SCHOOLS AWARDED A TOTAL OF £113,900 FOR PROJECTS FROM THE JACK PETCHEY FOUNDATION POT B FUNDING FOR OOSHL IN TOWER HAMLETS |
9/12/2003 |
 |
|
Sixteen schools submitted grant applications for Pot B funding and all were successful. Projects range from residential trips to foreign parts to mentoring projects involving older students or past students working with younger peers. Letters confirming funding for Pot B projects have been sent out to all schools, along with details of monitoring and evaluation requirements.
It is hoped that there will be a second funding round early in 2004, but with a stronger emphasis on partnerships in order to make fuller use of the expertise and resources of voluntary groups and LEA organisations across the borough. Information will be circulated to co-ordinators once the details have been agreed by the Jack Petchey Foundation.

| REPORT ON EVALUATION OF SERVICE 2002-2003: LBTH OOSHL (STUDY SUPPORT) SERVICE |
9/12/2003 |
 |
|
Thank you to the 59 schools and community groups who returned their Evaluation of Service in September of this year. The OoSHL (Study Support) Service has carried out a careful analysis of the responses received and written a report on the outcomes.
The overall level of satisfaction expressed in the responses from both schools (58%) and community groups (76%) to the Evaluation of Service is positive. If we disregard the Not Applicable responses given by respondents that did not use the service in question, the statistics present an even better picture, with levels of satisfaction rising to 93% and 96% for schools and community groups respectively.
Some expectations, especially those of community groups in relation to funding, are unrealistic or outside the gift of the OoSHL(Study Support) Service to meet. More generally, with two advisers only it is impossible to deliver the whole range of services to the same standard as were previously delivered by four. This has been noted by one of our school-based co-ordinators.
However, the particular services which had relatively high rates of dissatisfaction have been reviewed and the suggestions from schools and community groups regarding improvements to the service have been considered.
